Use the optional filters to refine your results.

How to use the Word Unscrambler

Enter your letters into the search box and the tool will find words that can be made from those letters. You can use the results for word games, crosswords, anagrams, spelling puzzles, and vocabulary ideas.

For example, entering tcaer could return words such as trace, crate, cater, react, acre, care, and race.

Getting better results

Use the additional options when you want more control over the words shown.

Word length

Choose a word length to only show words of a certain size. For example, if you enter triangle and choose 5 letters, the tool will only show 5-letter words that can be made from those letters.

Must include

Use this when the word must contain specific letters. Entering qi will only show results that include both q and i. These letters can be positioned anywhere within the word.

Starts with

Use this to find words that begin with specific letters. Entering pre will only show words starting with pre, such as press, prevent, and present.

Ends with

Use this to find words that finish with specific letters. Entering ing will only show words ending in ing, such as thing, bring, and string.

Contains pattern

Use this when you know part of the word pattern but not every letter. Use ? as a wildcard to represent any letter. For example, a?e could match words such as ace, age, ale, are, and ate.

Return closest matches only

Switch this on when you want a shorter, more focused list of results. This is useful if your search returns too many words and you only want the closest or most relevant matches.

Hide potentially offensive words

Switch this on to remove words that may be offensive, unsuitable, or inappropriate. We aim to filter potentially offensive words as accurately as possible, but no automated word list is perfect and some unsuitable words may occasionally appear.

Tip

For the best results, start with your letters first, then add filters one at a time. Using too many filters together can sometimes remove useful results.
